Are you a bit like me in that you plan for a long time for a holiday, get all excited but when you finally get to your hotel it never quite matches the pictures on the glossy travel brochures, their website or lastminute hotel booking site? Please read on, because I am very happy to report that this adventure just keeps getting better!
After leaving the amazing Cape Nidhra Hotel Hua Hin, we headed back to Bangkok and boarded another Thai Airways flight to Phuket. I’d visited Thailand previously, but had never been to Phuket or to be honest had never really harbored a desire to visit. I’d heard the stories; full of drunk young Aussies, Brits and other nationalities filling up girly bars and watching distasteful live sex shows. Not my cup of tea.
However, I did go with an open mind and soon after leaving Phuket Airport in another air-conditioned minivan with driver and guide I quickly thought to myself – this isn’t anything like the images I’d conjured up in my mind for Phuket to look like. It was semi-rural in appearance, ordered and the scenery pleasing and variable.
So imagine how much happier I was, and how my perceptions of Phuket totally changed, when we reached our next accommodation – the unbelievable Sala Phuket Resort & Spa. Wow, oh wow – what have I done right to be having such an amazing vacation?
I had to pinch myself; a second amazing hotel in a row that again far exceeds what I’d expected when planning the holiday?
Sala Phuket Resort & Spa is located on pristine Mai Khao Beach on Phuket’s northwest shoreline, just 20 minutes from Phuket International Airport and only 15 minutes away from picturesque Phang Nga Bay. From the moment we arrived at reception, until the time we sadly left 3 days later, our stay at Sala was simply sensational. Amazing accommodation, outstanding service and hospitality second to none. I cannot recommend this resort highly enough – I’m quickly running out of superlatives!
My villa is difficult to describe – it literally took me a few minutes to soak it all in as the delightful hostess showed me to my accommodation, complete with my own private outdoor pool. Yes, that’s right – my own personal pool. I’ve dreamt of this moment all my life, and here I am finally having this experience. To list all the features, all the wonderful amenities and fabulous features of Sala Spa Resort would take too long, so here are just a few highlights of my accommodation:
- Private swimming pool
- Open-air outdoor bathroom, with outdoor shower, tub and private garden
- Air conditioning ceiling fans
- King size bed
- 32’ Flat Screen LCD television with cable
- DVD Player and Audio Sound System
- Sound System & iPod
- Mini bar/Refrigerator
- Espresso / Coffee Machine and Tea Making Facilities
- Bathrobes, slippers, and umbrella
Among the many highlights of my stay at SALA Phuket Resort & Spa were the little touches; the choice of pillows, a fresh juice each night and a choice of refreshing teas.
If you can drag yourself away from your room long enough, SALA Phuket Resort & Spa features three beach front swimming pools and a variety of dining venues such as the open-air beach-front restaurant, romantic rooftop or a candlelit beach table where one can enjoy fine or casual dining options with a exceptional blend of mouth-watering international and scrumptious Thai delicacies. Yum.
Sala was wonderful, the food, the staff, the location, the everything! I can’t wait to go back to Phuket with my family, and know exactly where I’ll be staying!
